This document describes the cookies and similar technologies used by the LAND OS platform, in accordance with art. 4(5) of Romanian Law no. 506/2004 on the processing of personal data and the protection of privacy in the electronic communications sector.
A cookie is a small file stored by the browser at the request of the site visited. The platform uses only first-party cookies that are strictly necessary for operation.
1. Cookies used
| Name | Purpose | Type | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
| landos_session | Keeps the user signed in across pages. Contains a random identifier, not personal data. | Strictly necessary | 30 days |
| landos_lang | Remembers the chosen language, so that server responses match the language of the page. | Strictly necessary | 12 months |
The session cookie is marked HttpOnly, which prevents it being read from JavaScript, and SameSite=Lax, which prevents it being sent on requests initiated by other sites. What is stored on the server is a cryptographic digest of the identifier, not the identifier itself.
2. Consent
Under art. 4(5) of Law no. 506/2004 and the guidance of the European Data Protection Board, cookies strictly necessary to provide the service expressly requested by the user do not require prior consent.
Since the platform uses no analytics, advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, no consent banner is displayed. The introduction of any non-essential cookie will be preceded by a request for consent, with refusal made as straightforward as acceptance.
3. Third-party content
The map loads satellite imagery and cartographic tiles from external suppliers. Those requests disclose the IP address and the usual browser information to the supplier, as required to deliver the images, but do not set cookies on the user device.
The platform embeds no social network buttons, tracking pixels or advertising scripts.
4. Browser controls
Cookies can be deleted or blocked from the browser settings. Blocking the session cookie makes signing in impossible, and blocking the language cookie means server messages appear in the default language.
Detailed instructions are available in each browser documentation, under the privacy and site data section.
